Landscape Maintenance

Landscape Maintenance is a huge element in the aesthetics and value of property values.  It is also most important for a feeling of well being, because a nicely maintained property is visually pleasing, can reduce stress and is welcoming.  We stress through education of our crews that professional pruning, mowing, fertilizing and flower bed maintenance separates us from the competition.   It is also gratifying to hear your clients give you compliments about their property.  Nothing is better than getting a referral from a landscape that has passed your name off to their friends.  With over 27 years of technical training and experience you can be confident that Skinner Landscape Service is very qualified to maintain your landscape.

Skinner Landscape Service uses industry recognized “Best Practices” for pruning all plants.  We counsel our clients on the relationship of the plants to their property and how they fit the area.  We prune for good structure and growth habit.  We don’t believe a plant should be forced to be what it naturally isn’t.  At times we recommend removing the shrub or tree if it won’t fit in the landscape vs. pruning a plant inappropriately to try to force the plant to fit in an unsuitable space.  Improper pruning actually forces faster, uncontrolled, weaker growth.

We remove diseased and damaged growth and thin out plants for sun and air circulation.  On older overgrown plants we use the 1/3 rd rule, meaning only remove a third of the overgrown growth on the initial pruning.  The Plant Amnesty Association is also a good source for advice on proper pruning technique.
