Turf Installations
We at Skinner Landscape Service believe that proper installation of turf is very important. This process is accomplished by checking for proper drainage, adding soil amendments (using compost mixed with topsoil to improve the soil structure), roto-tilling the soil amendments into existing soil structure 6-8” deep, proper grading and then professional installation of select seed or sod.
The installation of plant and landscape beds begins by using quality materials. Before planting begins, it should be determined if soil amendments need to be added to the existing site (some sites are hard pan clay). Other important decisions to consider are raising the beds as necessary and/or for effect, and choosing the right plant for the location (is the area sunny or shady) plus desired appearance. The planting process includes using the proper plant-hole size and depth, and using a quality starter fertilizer. We finish an installation by meeting with the client to go over the proper care of their new plantings.
